"I don't have a style or medium I am exclusively committed to and I never will. Expect variety and total awesomeness." - Haven

The Bag Lady

“The Bag Lady” is a black and white block print of a homeless women, Haven met, named Merideth. Merideth was sleeping outside of a Prada store in Milan, Italy.

Boss Babe

"Boss Babe" is an oil painting of a naked women. Haven painted this with paper towels, sponges and large brushes while the model posed. "Boss Babe" is an expression of confidence, body positivity and girl power.

Little Blue Dancer

"Little Blue Dancer" is a mixed media water color and ink painting of a women dancing in a hurricane.

Little Blue Dancer #2

"Little Blue Dancer #2" is a combination of a mixed media painting and digital artwork. Haven printed the original water color and ink "Little Blue Dancer" in different sizes on transparent paper and layered them on top of one another. After photographing it she scanned in the original painting and replicated this process in photoshop. In photoshop she used layering and a reductive painting technique to achieve this illusion of motion.

The Reach

“The Reach” embodies the adventure of reaching for something when the outcome is intimidating or uncertain. It is a charcoal still life, of a hand reaching up through a pillar with a rope wrapped around it, and bull horns emerging out of the vase. The background is made up of a fine metal plate and a black curtain that is draped behind the plate. "The Reach” looks best when it is displayed with its sister still life “The Knot.” Together, these artworks strike this visual balance of certainty, through the ties people build in their lives, as seen in “The Knot”, and uncertainty when it's time to take a risk, as seen in “The Reach”.

The Knot

"The Knot" represents stability and certainty. It is a charcoal still life of a white cloth tied in a knot and draped over a black background. The knot will beautifully enhance any space, especially when it is complimented by its sister still life "The Reach.” Together, these artworks strike this visual balance of certainty, through the ties people build in their lives, as seen in “The Knot”, and uncertainty when it's time to take a risk, as seen in “The Reach”.

Coral

“Coral” is the first painting in Haven Studios “Arts for Oceans” initiative. For each print of “Coral” sold 50 percent of the profits will go towards “Plant a Million Corals.” This non profit organization combat's the alarming depletion of coral reefs; by growing baby corals in labs and planting them in the ocean once they're strong enough to fight against climate change. Coral reefs are the rainforests of the sea. They produce a lot of the oxygen we breathe. As an essential part of the ecosystem, sea turtles depend on them for survival along with 25% of all fish. Coral reefs provide more than $1.8 billion in flood protection benefits in the United States and are the foundation of a 30 billion dollar tourism industry.

Haven is a rescue scuba diver and grew up free diving in governors reef on Grand Cayman Island. She watched every year from early childhood into her twenties as this reef went from an underwater city bustling with marine life to what has now lost an enormous amount of coral and its biodiversity. This is happening all over the world.

For many coral is out of sight and out of mind so Haven painted this to bring attention to and raise money for this issue as well as represent optimism for the future of the reefs.

Ocean

"Ocean" is an acrylic on canvas painting of an abstracted ariel view of the caribean sea. "Ocean" is part of Haven Studios "Arts for Oceans" Project that helps to fund various nonprofits and the work they do for the ocean and its marine life. For each print of "Ocean" sold 30% of the profits will go towards the company "Plant a Million Corals."

The Mermaids

“The Mermaids” is an expression of the magic, the healing and the wonders of the ocean. Haven loves to sit in the silence and pressure of the ocean floor and look up at the sunlight as it moves and is refracted by the water. She chose to use drypoint etching as the medium to render this because it best represents this distortion of light.
