Coral: The Original
“Coral” is the first painting in Haven Studios “Arts for Oceans” initiative. For each print of “Coral” sold 50 percent of the profits will go towards “Plant a Million Corals.” This non profit organization combat's the alarming depletion of coral reefs; by growing baby corals in labs and planting them in the ocean once they're strong enough to fight against climate change. Coral reefs are the rainforests of the sea. They produce a lot of the oxygen we breathe. As an essential part of the ecosystem, sea turtles depend on them for survival along with 25% of all fish. Coral reefs provide more than $1.8 billion in flood protection benefits in the United States and are the foundation of a 30 billion dollar tourism industry.
Haven is a rescue scuba diver and grew up free diving in governors reef on Grand Cayman Island. She watched every year from early childhood into her twenties as this reef went from an underwater city bustling with marine life to what has now lost an enormous amount of coral and its biodiversity. This is happening all over the world.
For many coral is out of sight and out of mind so Haven painted this to bring attention to and raise money for this issue as well as represent optimism for the future of the reefs.
This is the only signed and dated original acrylic on canvas painting of "Coral" and comes with custom framing by the designer Frame Dimensions.
